site, Don,
My sister Harriet told me about this web site and really enjoyed
looking at the pictures and reading it. I moved out of Borculo 47 years
ago. I moved to Jenison,MI. Do go there once in a while. No family left
there though. Parents were John and Gert Bussis. My sister Harriet and
myself owned the Corner Lunch across from Koop store and Vollink store
in 1953. Corner of 96th and Port Sheldon. Lots of good memories in
Borculo.

30-40 years ago. We're on Baldwin between 88th and 80th st. Know
anything about it?
Thanks, Vicki Vander Sloot

Full Name: Michael Steenwyk Home Page: None. Date and Time: 1/14/05, 11:41 AM Comments: Dear
Sir or Madam,<BR>I was looking on the Web tonight after spending
some of the afternoon in the Borculo Cemetery. I found the headstone
for Jacobus Klanderman in the cemetery and (for my family tree) I am
trying to prove that his wife was named Aaltje?
Can you tell me? His
son Gerrit Klanderman married Hendrika (Gosselink). I found the stone
but it was so old, even with the clouds passing over for different
amounts of light, and different shadows, I could not make out her last
name clearly. If you could help me I would appreciate it. Thanks

Full Name: Greg McNair Home Page: None. Date and Time: 1/14/05, 11:38 AM Comments: It
was interesting to come across your site. I was born in Baltimore,
Maryland in 1954. I moved to Zutphen (for whom a crater is named on the
planet Mars) in 1978 and for the last 15 years I've been living in
Borculo, the Netherlands. Coincidentally, my father-in-law, the Rev.
aaldert van Weelden, Sr. is the minister for the church formerly known
as the "Nederlands Hervormde Kerk". He'll retire in September.
In
Borculo we enjoy the small town character surrounded by the neighboring
farms. Life is peaceful and it is a wonderful place to raise kids.
I wish you All of God's Blessings.
Sincerly yours,
Greg McNair

None. Date and Time: 7/7/03, 10:20 AM Comments: Was
surprised when sister Paula called and said Borculo has a website. What
fond memories. The pickles station, Koops store, (all the penny candy,
Popsicle brand popsicles, & the pop machine). I can still visualize
where everything is in the store. Can everyone remember the hamburg
gravy with mashed potatoes, pea soup/vegetable soup & bologna
sandwiches (every Wed.)the peanut butter/butter sandwiches, the cold
milk in the glass pint bottles. Or how about the candy sales on
Fridays. We really had it good. God really blessed us with healthy
morales. Remember when on that Monday night at 9:00 that man lost his
life after driving between two cars full of my friends from church,
crashed into the house? I still remember exactly where I was, the
stones' and gravel flying in the house. How about the ice pond that Mr.
Vanden Berg made for us. What a great community to grow up in. So many
fond memories. Never had to lock your doors. Wish my children had what
I had back then.
Full Name: Paula Overweg Gallas Home Page: None. Date and Time: 7/1/03, 2:53 PM Comments: I
have great memories of growing up in a large family at the corner of
Port Sheldon and 96th ave. We learned to make our own fun, worked in
the blueberry fields or on other produce farms to make money and grew
up in a safe community. The big night out was Sat. evening when we
would travel into Holland to go to Meijer-Thrifty Acres and then stop
at Russ' drive in. I wish I could have graduated 8th grade from Borculo
Public with the last class to finish there in 1966, I believe, but our
family moved to Spring Lake after I completed 6th grade.

up if u are interested, i also can find some pictures of pheasant
hunting around the blendon area in the hay day of pheasants. Also i am
wondering if the house in the picture u are not sure of is the old hank
and hattie guerink home that stood on the corner of bingham and 96th
ave. the house was a very large home and had a small garage behind it,
my dad bought the house and the property in the early 70,s and we tore

Could you put all the graduating classes on the site? I know the
pictures were in the public school when it became a restaurant. I
wonder if anyone out there was in the same class I was. It would be fun
to have the reunion Bob Barton predicted in our class prophecy at
graduation. Some of the people in our class were Carol Weaver, Phyllis
Guerink, Allen Petroelje, Rick Koop, Rosemary and Randy Overway, and
many more. We baby boomers need to get together! Jan Fischer, Traverse

the pictures of Borculo. I will send a few I maybe can find. I attended
K-8 in Borculo and later (1956) went to Zeeland High. Brothers Randy
and Steve, along with Rosemary also attended a few years after. We
lived on the corner and 96th and Port Sheldon and had more that a few
cars bang into our house when the morning fog was too thick. It seems
to me now that those were the good old days. I still see Harvey Ten
Broeke and Ron Bowman. Also George Kuipers. What ever happened to Carol
