In 1848, the Tamme VandenBosch family left the little village of Witten, near Assen, in the province of Drenthe, traveled to Ammerzoden in the Province of Gelderlandin the Netherlands, and boarded a river boat to Amsterdam. There they boarded the ship Scandia, debarked at New York on May 29, and settled in Zeeland, Michigan. His wife was Grietje Koenen Bont 1801-1865. The ship's manifest records that Tamme was a farmer in the Netherlands. Tamme is buried in a private plot near Roosevelt St. in Zeeland. Their children are as follows:
